Anahi Oraisón - violin, viola and electric violin
Anahi Oraisón was admitted to the young talent class of the Rotterdam Conservatory at the age
of nine, after only three years of playing the violin. In January 2006 she finished her BM degree in
violin at Codarts, University of Professional Arts Education, in Rotterdam. She is currently in her
last year of the MM program at Codarts, studying violin with Thijs Kramer and Gordan Nicolić and
viola with Anne Huser.
She is specializing in Dutch contemporary music and researching
contemporary violin techniques.
Anahi has been very active as a contemporary musician this past year. She has collaborated with
composers Jacob ter Veldhuis, Chiel Meijering and Roderik de Man in preparation of
performances of their works. She was invited to perform as a soloist in the opening ceremony of
the Dutch liberation day in 2008 (a national event for an audience including the queen and the
prime minister), playing Cancion de cuna para Anahi by Gustavo Trujillo. She played several
premieres in a concert featuring the works of the young emerging composer Joey Roukens. Later
this year she will give performances of Grab It! by Jacob ter Veldhuis and Spazio Piccolo by
Roderik de Man.
Anahi is also working as an orchestral musician, chamber musician and violin teacher. Her
orchestral experiences started at a very early age in orchestras such as the National Youth
Orchestra (NJO). Currently she is an active freelancer in the Rotterdam area, playing
regularly with orchestras such as Continuo-Rotterdam (concertmaster) and the Rotterdam
Chamber Orchestra. She was appointed as concert master of the ‘Orchest-Vereeniging’ in 2006.
Anahi
has a large class of violin students at the ‘Muziekvereniging Crescendo’ in Sliedrecht
and teaches
privately in Dordrecht.
